February 26th 1997

It was February 25th 1997. I was 21. I was laying in bed probably eating ice cream as this is what I did most every day when I was pregnant with her. All of a sudden my pants were wet. I jumped up out of bed because I didn't want to pee my brand new mattress. I got up and went to the bathroom but I didn't have to pee. After I changed my pants, I laid back down. It happened again so I jumped up and ran to the bathroom again only to realize that it might be my water. I still had a few days left to go. SHe was due march 4th. So I called the Dr as I sat on the pot. I told him that every time I laid down I was leaking but if I sat up or stood up it stopped. He said we should go to the hospital. We had chosen to have her at St. Mary's. On the way to the hospital, still not in any real hurry, David asks, How long do you think we will be there? I really didn't know if he would send us back home or not so I told him I wasn't sure. He mentions that since he had just gotten home from work, he did not get to eat dinner. Could we please stop at McD's? I said sure but have since given him trouble about it since that day every year. After arriving at St. Mary's and getting signed in, they reassured us that yes, my water had broke and we were not going to go anywhere. They were going to wait a little while longer to see if I was going to go into labor by myself. I didn't (in the amount of time thay wanted to me to) so they started me on Pit. About 26hours later, after the pit, I was still only dialated to 6cm. She was starting to go into disstress and contractions on Pit are like having 10 contractions in one. They decided I was going to have her via an emergency c-cection. After she was born they realized that she was facing the wrong direction and that was why she was not progressing. Her fave was being smashed, she was considered posterior position. If they had realized that sooner, it would have been a completly different outcome. Josephine was in the same position and they turned her and she was born v-bac. Abi was born February26th, 6:50pm, 19 and a half inches long, 8pounds, one ounce. She had a lot of facial bruising from being posterior. But she was my beautiful baby girl who we named Abigail Shirley-Marie Sandbach. She was born on David's mother's birthday. He had origianly asked me if she was born on his mother's birthday, could we name her after his mother. I had told him yes because what were the odds. HUH!! Little did I know. Well, after lots of crying becasue I didn't want to change my baby's name, we decided on hyphening her middle name. We had picked out the name Abigail from our baby book one night while eating hot wings at Hooters. The Marie is my middle name. It is also my mother's middle name and my Grandmother's middle name. I had come to really love her name that we picked out and to ask a woman who just gave birth to her first baby girl to change her name... Seriously??? Well, I love the name we gave her and I could imagine her name being anything else. Well, now tweleve years later I have this beautiful young lady that is to talented and smart. I can't believe how far we have come. She made the honor roll in her first year of middle school. She is playing the trumpet and the french horn right now at school. She is doing great on both. She is also a Cadette in GirlScouts and loves it. I can't wait for Char and Cara to get into Daisy's. There are so many new adventures to go through with Abigail and I am ready for most of them. Some of them I still have a lot of learning to do. Parenting is a learing experience. I am enjoying this rollercoaster though.

it's Monday...UGH

OKay, so these firlst pics are from International Thinking Night last Thursday. It was a Girlscout thing we do to learn about other countries. Josie's troop did Ireland and i posted a pick of our table. I brought the scones from Dierbergs. :) remember? Abi's troop worked on their service patch by hosting. She is a Cadet. The other pics are from Abi's birthday party at our house. I took pics of Bubba with Abi's new helmet. She wants to take up skateboarding. OH huray... And Yes, that is my Dad and David atempting to give her her birthday spankings. It is a good thing we only do these once a year. Dad and David were both hobbling to the couch when they were done. I think this will be the last year for that. Next year we'd probably have to call 911 for Dad and David. She will be 12 on Thursday.

One more week...

My ADD brain needs to unload so here goes. It may not make any sense to anyone when I am done either.
Well, my first born will be 12 on Thursday. I need a rewind button or a do-over. Not that I feel I have done anything wrong I just want to do it all over again. I need more time. It is all going by to damn fast. I want to go visit my sister in Texas. I feel like I never get to see her and I really wish we had a closer relationship. I miss you Jessi. I am really starting to stress out over David leaving. He said that after this time, he will only have to re-certify every three years and that it will only be a week. A week I can handle. I feel like every time I get caught up on things all i hsave to do is turn around and there is more. Of course, it doesn't help that I have 3 little crumb makers following behind me messing up everything I clean. I am always trying to figure out a way to get this to not bother me or make me feel like a crazy person. When you have a one year old and two four year olds I know you need to let go a little more. I guess I am trying. I am on the laptop and I don't have any pics on here of this weekend so I will try to post them in the AM. I have got some really cute videos of Bubba dancing with Josie's Hanna Montana Christmas Barbie. She sings when you push her button on her tummy.

oh, by the way...

That is Charlotte Ann with the Christmas socks on with the soccer cleats, and the sundress with the turtle neck and the Barbie sunglasses. Boy does she know how to accessorise. :) She gets her style from her Dad. He is an eccentric dresser too.

it's thursday...

One of our fishes had a baby last night. It was very exciting for a minute and then the kids started freakin out because they thought that the three very large bottom feeders we have might eat the one very little baby. So David put on his jeans and went to Pet Co at 8:30pm. He got a little basket for it to swim in so it doesn't get eaten. There may have been more but we could only find one.
Also, thank goodness for Dierbergs and their fabulous bakery!! Tonight is International Thinking Night at Josie's school for Girl Scouts. It is where all of the GS troups from her school get together and each troop learns agout a country. Ours is Ireland. I was supposed to make scones for tonight. Well, I am not a very good baker so I thought I would leave this one up to the pros. Thank you Dierbergs!!!!! I know they will be a big hit. I also did $200 worth of grocery shopping while I was there. I hate grocery shopping. I was pleasently surprised by their prices on milk though. At walmart a gallon of "Great Value" 2% is 2.76 and at Dierbergs a gallon of "Farmcrest"2% was 2.96. Not to bad. Aldi's got them both beat though at $2.88 a gallon. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but when you are feeding a family of seven on a salary of one, it really does add up. I do like that they are so very healpfull at Dierbergs which really does make a huge difference when you are shopping with three small kids. They have pushed one of my two carts out to my truck in the pouring rain and unloaded both of them while I put the kids in the car. I like their carts that have the little cars in the front too. It is where I will probably go while David is AWOL. Oooh, I can get my Annie's fruit snacks there too. Walmart doesn't carry them. I usually have to go to Target for those. I wonder if they do a double coupon day??? HUH HUM!!!
Clearing throat here. Meghan??? I would also like to tell you about my great new findings with State Farm Insurance but I don't have the time right now. I have to start getting ready to take the twins to pre-school. We have to leave in 2 hours. That's how long it will take us to ge out the door. Here are some pics from Uncle Billy's surprise 40th that David and I threw him. He said it was his first surprise b-day ever.

busy weekend

well, it was a pretty busy weekend and I didn't get to post any new pics. Just trying to get ready for David to be gone again for 6 weeks. He is going to Bomb school in Alabama. We are thinking of visiting Gulf Shores when we go to see him during spring break. I just want to see the kids expression when they see the ocean for the first time. I really hope we get to do this. I will try to find time in the morning while I am having my morning cup of coffee to post some pics from this weekend. :)

oops... here's the video

what a weekend

We had a pretty buisy weekend. Uncle Billy is going to be 40 on Friday so i have a pretty buisy week ahead of me too. Here are some of the pics form this weekend. Also a video clip from last week. Daddy was playing the bagpipes in the kitchen and bubba was dancing to the music.
I took Jo, Char, Cara, and Davie to Monkey Joe's Saturday morning. We were there for 2 and a half hours until Josie got kicked in the face. She was ready to leave after that. Char and Cara are little dare devils and they had so much fun on the giant slides. I never thought they were going to go down them. At first Char climbed up and she was to scared to go down so she just climbed back down the stairs. Then Cara went down the slides. I guess she thought if her sister could do it, so could she. Then Sunday we went to St. George where the girls Daddy was doing a show whith the bomb truck and two of the robots. I got some neat pics of the kids in front of the truck and the robots. Actually, the little robot that Daddy was driving wasn't as cool as the big one that Joe (guy from Daddy's work) was driving. So I think I only have pics of that one. Also, last thursday the girls at Dino's mentioned that he didn't have any bruises... well, he's got one now. :)
